An accurate reissue from one of Fender's most ground breaking years! The Fender American Vintage '62 Custom Telecaster Electric Guitar showcases classic Tele vibe and twang with the added rich looks and warm tone of a rosewood fingerboard. Introduced because maple tended to show wear, rosewood became a popular fingerboard option that also added warmth to the classic Fender Telecaster tone.
The double-bound alder body and multi-ply pickguard that dressed up the '62 Telecaster guitar distinguished it from its Butterscotch predecessor. And rosewood, originally introduced for cosmetic reasons because maple was prone to showing wear, quickly grew in popularity with the warmth it added to the classic Telecaster tone. In the spirit of the original, our American Vintage '62 Telecaster Custom guitar has a C-shaped maple neck with a 7.

Great guitar. Well made. Very classic look and sound.
Its simple yet effective design and revolutionary sound broke ground and set trends in electric guitar manufacturing and popular music. Introduced for national distribution as the Broadcaster in the autumn ofit was the first guitar of its kind manufactured on a substantial scale and has been in continuous production in one form or another since its first incarnation. Just like the Fender Stratocasterthe Telecaster is also a versatile guitar, usable for most styles of music and has been used in many genres, including country, reggae, rock, pop, folk, soul, rhythm and blues, blues, jazz, punk, and heavy metal. In the period roughly between andseveral craftsmen and companies experimented with solid-body electric guitars, but none had made a significant impact on the market.

Fender stopped making this model back in as the cost of production became prohibitive relative to their Custom Shop versions of this same guitar. These AVRI models were known to be fabulous guitars and you don't see many clean examples like this beauty as folks tend to hold onto them. It has an Alder body with binding on both sides and a 3 tone sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
