There are several phenomenal hikes you can do in this area, and all of them offer great views. You can start either way, but we wanted to photograph the Plain of Six Glaciers in the early morning light. The trail winds you around Lake Louise and up into the basin of glaciers you see from the Chateau Lake Louise.

There's nothing devilish about the trip up Devil's Thumb. It's mostly a hike with a smidgen of easy scrambling and very mild exposure on a narrow path. But perhaps that's enough to deter the hordes of tourists we saw on the trail: many ended up crowding Big Beehive which shares a col with Devil's Thumb.

Devils Thumb is a magnificent tower in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. In contrast to the most of the Indian Peaks, Devils Thumb can only be reached by 5th class climbing at least two pitches. Devils Thumb is more of a sub-peak than an individual mountain in itself, but it bears little resemblance to its neighbors in appearance and difficulty, and it definitely deserves its own page since it is a certainly a different type of climb and summit than any of the surrounding peaks.
Devils Thumb Trailhead to Devils Thumb Pass is a 7 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Tabernash, Colorado that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
