Students who intend to graduate from and participate in a commencement ceremony at APU must complete a Graduation Application at least six months prior to their intended commencement. Awarding degrees is dependent upon the successful completion of all requirements. Minimum requirements for graduation are:. Hope College has three graduation dates each year: May, July and December.
Students must complete a minimum of hours to receive a degree from the University of Houston. Some degrees will require more than the minimum in order to satisfy all the requirements for the major. There are three designations of Academic Honors in the Life University College of Undergraduate Studies and the College of Chiropractic: s umma cum laude with highest praiserequiring an overall grade-point average of 3. A student may attain academic honors at Life University by the virtue of maintaining high grades while in pursuit of the normal curriculum of a subject area. The Valedictorian and Salutatorian of each class, and students graduating with honors are identified as such in the graduate listing.
Degree conferral and commencement are different. Commencement is a one-time, celebratory, regional ceremony. Degree conferral involves the administrative process necessary to officially award your degree.
Candidates for honors recognition will receive an invitation from the College President inviting them to participate in this event. Bachelor degrees with graduation honors are conferred in accordance with the following cumulative grade point averages students must have completed a minimum of 56 credits at York College to be eligible for these honors :. Maximum course loads are established to encourage students to think carefully about the amount of time they will need to devote to each class. Undergraduate students who meet honors criteria for work completed prior to the semester in which they graduate will be given honorary recognition honor cord at the commencement ceremony. Students will need to have earned 60 UWO credits including test and remedial credits to be considered for degree honors. Honors designations on transcripts will be based on the entire academic record including your final semester. If you qualify for a gold University Degree honor cord, you will receive it before the ceremony when you check in at the registration table for your college, lower level Kolf.
Every university or college outlines its own expectations for each program, and some higher education institutions do not bestow Latin honors at all. Others, like Stanford University, have a separate set of non-Latin distinctions that are typically seen as roughly equivalent to the traditional Latin titles. Increasingly, high schools across the United States also include Latin honors for students upon graduation.
Three-quarters of the work for the Bachelor of Arts degree 96 credits must be in liberal arts and sciences; one-half of the work for the Bachelor of Science degree and for the Bachelor of Science in Education degree 64 credits must be in the liberal arts and sciences; one-quarter of the work for the Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Music degree 32 credits must be in liberal arts and sciences. Students must fulfill the Core Curriculum and competency requirements, and at least 48 of the credits earned must be in the liberal arts and sciences. Entrance requirements may vary depending upon the academic program.
