We went to The Saltlick for Mother's Day and took both sets of parents to celebrate. In the past, a 2 beef rib plate was offered on the menu, and my husband always took one home for dinner. They were huge and very tasty.
How do we stay cool in the heat? By jumping in a pool of course! And what deliciously goes with a Texas road trip?
Enjoyed that experience. It was a long journey with friends and family. When we arrived it was packed with people. It was best BBQ experience brisket and meats

Roberts and Hisako built the Salt Lick restaurant on the ranch where he was born, using locally quarried limestone. Hisako's Hawaiian heritage inspired the sweet barbecue sauce used in the restaurant. The Salt Lick's primary cuisine is beef brisketsausage, and pork ribs. Chicken, beef ribs, turkey, pulled pork and prime rib are also served.
I worked at Salt Lick BBQ when I was a student at Dripping Springs High School, and in the intervening years, I have enjoyed many a plate of their brisket, sausage, ribs, and chicken, as well as copious amounts of coleslaw, beans, and potato salad, all drenched in that addictive, mustardy sauce. I'm certain I'm not alone in having a profound nostalgia around the Salt Lick. And while the original in Driftwood is a fine place to bring out-of-town guests — the rustic setting and Authentic BBQ Patina on the walls certainly lend an air of authenticity — it's a net positive that residents of Dripping Springs and the surrounding area have another barbecue joint to visit when they're in the mood for the national cuisine of Texas.
One of the most well-known places in Dripping Springs, the lush landscape and cool waters of Hamilton Pool draw people from all over central Texas and beyond. The pool itself was formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed, giving it a unique structure with a waterfall and a grotto where you can escape from the Texas sun. Located on a acre nature preserve, Hamilton Pool is one of the best swimming holes in Texas. You can bring a picnic, spread out a towel on the small beach area, or just wander through the surrounding trails to check out the wildlife.
