So, if you follow me on Twitter, you probably saw me flip my shit earlier today about Deadly Skiesa sci fi disaster movie about an asteroid on a collision course with Earth. Literally the only thing separating it from every other movie of its type is the fact that the main characters are a black woman and and a gay man. The dialogue is often very bad.

Sci-fi movies often place characters in dangerous or unfamiliar situations, leaving a lot of tension in the air. And, sometimes, there's a healthy dose of sexual tension to go along with it.
Even the black and white films of the s were prone to feature alien ladies in bikinis or skimpy attire. Indeed, the first appearances of the miniskirt on the big screen came via Dale Arden on the old Flash Gordon films and Ann Francis in Forbidden Planet. But in the late s, sci-fi kicked things up a notch… rather, a dozen notches.

Obviously there is some blurring of genre lines between science fiction and other genres like horror, fantasy, etc. My intention is to include any films that prominently feature science fiction elements, so any film with both sci-fi and horror should be included.

For the first time in my life, I watched the mids sci-fi movie Space Truckers the other week. What struck me is that these moments of groinage were really odd.
