Alas, this is hardly the only, or the most egregious, case of gratuitous nudity or scanty costuming in science fiction. We — gratuitously — gather together a few more examples to highlight the issue…. But seriously
So, if you follow me on Twitter, you probably saw me flip my shit earlier today about Deadly Skiesa sci fi disaster movie about an asteroid on a collision course with Earth. Literally the only thing separating it from every other movie of its type is the fact that the main characters are a black woman and and a gay man. The dialogue is often very bad.
Science fiction has never been known as a particularly titillating genre. But people in science fiction do get down and dirty as people are wont to doand some of those sci-fi sex scenes can get incredibly twisted. We're not just talking about interspecies copulation though there are plenty of instances of that throughout.
When you think of the term "sci-fi," the next word to pop into your head probably isn't "sexy. However, I would argue that if you look a little deeper, you can see that they're not mutually exclusive. Sci-fi movies often place characters in dangerous or unfamiliar situations, leaving a lot of tension in the air. And, sometimes, there's a healthy dose of sexual tension to go along with it.
Even the black and white films of the s were prone to feature alien ladies in bikinis or skimpy attire. Indeed, the first appearances of the miniskirt on the big screen came via Dale Arden on the old Flash Gordon films and Ann Francis in Forbidden Planet. But in the late s, sci-fi kicked things up a notch… rather, a dozen notches.

These films generally dedicate a large amount of running time to nudity and sex. Obviously there is some blurring of genre lines between science fiction and other genres like horror, fantasy, etc. My intention is to include any films that prominently feature science fiction elements, so any film with both sci-fi and horror should be included.
Captain Kirk cuddled space babes regardless of class, race, or even species, and played a big role in the sexual revolution of the s. Rather than having sex, he cures himself by fighting Kirk—the stuff slash fiction is made of. This is his horny face.
Skip navigation! Story from Movies. We don't know about you, but our big Friday plan involves hustling to the movies and settling into a viewing of Equals.
For the first time in my life, I watched the mids sci-fi movie Space Truckers the other week. What struck me is that these moments of groinage were really odd. And, in fact, lots of sex scenes in s sci-fi movies were really odd too. If only I wrote for a mildly popular website, and could turn this into compelling digital content, chums?
